SMM February 14 News:
The Chinese New Year holiday has quietly come to an end, and various regions across the country have gradually resumed work. So, what is the current status of production and downstream consumption in the die-casting zinc alloy industry?
According to SMM's understanding, most die-casting zinc alloy enterprises plan to resume production around February 12 (Lantern Festival), while some enterprises had already started operations as early as February 8, following the end of the statutory holiday. However, there are still enterprises with slow resumption progress that have not yet started production.
The main reasons for this are as follows: Firstly, among the end-user enterprises of die-casting zinc alloy, some have not yet resumed work, leading to lower demand. At the same time, workers at alloy factories have not fully returned to their posts, prompting some producers to rely on inventory to meet demand. Secondly, another driving factor behind this market condition is the rise in zinc prices. Due to the impact of Trump's tariffs, zinc prices have risen this week, dampening downstream purchasing enthusiasm and significantly reducing order demand. Additionally, in terms of export orders, most enterprises reported no significant improvement yet. Under the influence of tariff factors, enterprises remain cautious about subsequent export orders.
Looking ahead, zinc alloy producers and zinc ingot traders generally believe that a full recovery in downstream consumption will take time, with the market expected to see a real rebound in March. Meanwhile, some enterprises hold a cautious view on consumption, anticipating that downstream consumption will return to normal by mid-March.
